The walk out was easy and I didn’t even break a sweat over 3 miles. I did however almost have three heart attacks.
When I got to the 2nd gate it was propped open. It shouldn’t be with no logging going on. I had been up since 7am and hadn’t heard any traffic. Puzzled and worried that something wasn’t right.
I got a little further and there was a fire truck. I thought ok maybe they have a key and moved on.

I made it all the way to the swamp before I got surprise from behind. Out of nowhere four King County Sheriff SUV’s had me surrounded on the one lane cutting through the swamp. I jumped backwards and almost fell in the water.
Fortunately they kept driving after passing me. What the heck is going on? I made it out past the first gate and took my pack off. As I sat it on the ground, the third wave of what the neck hit me.
A line of pickups, ambulances, fire aid trunks and fire trucks came rolling out. Looks like maybe doing some training and playing with new toys for summer.
Phew…
