Met a new neighbor today on my walk back from this evening’s photo shoot. Here is what I’m sure it’s not: Cougar, Mountain Lion, Bear, Deer, Elk, Moose, Turtle, Cow, Pig or Horse.
I have seen one previously at about 2600 feet, east of Enumclaw, WA. Within the last 30 days I saw a special on these guys where they were putting GPS collars on them. What I saw was a thicker rusty brown coat, it’s back wasn’t more than two feet off the ground, it was pretty quick with an odd gallop and a smaller almost pointy face. It is a very distinct creature, the wolverine.
Needless to say, when I got back to camp I had to bust out my secret weapon for self defense. My self defense theory is if they don’t come into my camp, then I won’t have to deal with them. Have you ever seen the movie “Dances with Wolves”? I have taken what Kevin Costner did to a whole new level.
This is my special fermented brew that I call Cat Nip #8. When I’m about in the woods I bring a spray bottle with me for my brew. It’s a special concoction that I use to deter bears, cats and other critters in the hood. With this I don’t have to drink 12 pits of tea to have enough puss to mark my territory. The spray bottle gives you better direct coverage, using much less wiz to cover more area.
I don’t want to claim ownership, just announce my presence. They can have everything else, I just want to be left alone in my tiny little spot, in a spray bottle. (Available at your local dollar store.) It’s non toxic, all natural and free!
* I noticed something else on my photo shoot as well. This evening at about 7 pm, someone as over at the bridge, it out a camp fire. I saw a lot of steam and smoke going up. Don’t know if they were done cooking, or the King County Sheriff that patrols the highway saw the smoke and squashed their dreams of a hotdog.
